University of Missouri-Kansas City Offers a Pathway for International Dentists

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry has initiated an advanced standing dental education program, offering a pathway for international dentists to practice in the United States. This program, launched in January, condenses the dental degree into 2.5 years compared to the traditional 4-year program, enabling students to graduate by May 2027. With a focus on addressing the shortage of oral healthcare providers, particularly in underserved rural areas, UMKC received a remarkable 380 applications for its inaugural nine spots. Dean Steven Haas, DMD, JD, MBA, emphasizes the program’s role in diversifying the dental provider workforce to mirror demographic shifts. The program’s emphasis on diversity provides a unique perspective, fostering growth for both students and practitioners alike. Click here to read more.
