University of Michigan to Lead New Regenerative Medicine Center
The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) will award $11.7 million over the next 3 years to the Michigan-Pittsburgh-Wyss Resource Center: Supporting Regenerative Medicine in Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Technologies to develop strategies to restore craniofacial and dental defects. The center, led by the University of Michigan (U-M) School of Dentistry, brings together researchers from several U-M departments, as well as the University of Pittsburgh, Harvard University, and private companies, to help advance regenerative medicine.
The new center, which is one of two national resource centers that comprise the NIDCR’s Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Tissue Regeneration Consortium, will use the funding to evaluate and pursue research projects to develop methods for repairing oral and craniofacial features damaged by disease, injury, or congenital disorders.
