Seeking a proven senior scientific leader to serve as Director, Division of Oral Health
The Director has a broad operating authority and is responsible for overall planning, direction and management of the Division. This individual directs the development of appropriate goals and objectives; identifies and prioritizes the Division’s research and program activities to reduce preventable oral health diseases; oversees surveillance efforts, often in collaboration with other divisions covering chronic disease problems associated with oral health; and provides leadership in the integration of oral health with health systems. The Director will also develop and maintain relationships among a variety of local, state, territorial, and other government agencies, academic institutions, and nongovernmental voluntary and professional organizations. These activities are supported by an annual budget of approximately $18 million.
The Division works to improve the oral health of the nation and reduce inequalities in oral health by—
- Helping states improve their oral health programs. · Extending the use of proven strategies to prevent oral disease by—
- Promoting community water fluoridation.
- Promoting greater use of school-based and –linked dental sealant programs.
- Enhancing efforts to monitor oral diseases, such as dental caries and periodontal infections.
- Contributing to the scientific knowledge-base regarding oral health and disease.
- Guiding infection control in dentistry.
