Penn School of Dental Medicine Secures Grant Designed to Empower Caregivers of Patients With Special Needs

Penn’s School of Dental Medicine just received a $620,900 grant to improve oral health education for caregivers of people with disabilities. Over 3 years, this initiative aims to boost caregiver knowledge through engaging training and resources, benefiting thousands in the community.

Penn’s School of Dental Medicine has been awarded a $620,900 grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to improve oral health education for caregivers of individuals with disabilities. The funding will support educational programming that includes focus groups, training videos, and tailored sessions in both clinical and community settings. With a mission to enhance caregiver knowledge through culturally sensitive methods, this initiative targets the 13.5% of the United States population living with disabilities, aiming to improve their oral hygiene and overall health outcomes.
