CHICAGO, October 13 — Kids across the country indulge in sweet treats for Halloween every year, but it is important not to forget about a healthy smile. That’s why Oral Health America (OHA) is educating families about the importance of maintaining a healthy mouth through the annual Fall for Smiles education campaign. To highlight tooth-friendly ways to celebrate Halloween, OHA is hosting a Twitter chat with Sunstar on October 19 at noon CDT.

“Halloween is a time for thrills and fun treats. It’s also a great opportunity to teach kids good oral hygiene habits for a year-round healthy smile,” said Marie Wilson at Sunstar.

The Twitter chat will feature ways dental offices and families can use Fall for Smiles materials to focus on oral health for Halloween, including a coloring sheet, quiz, activity booklet and brushing chart.

Every September and October, OHA launches Fall for Smiles to educate all Americans about the importance of maintaining a healthy mouth through daily brushing, flossing and rinsing, regular dental visits, eating healthy foods and avoiding tobacco products. Learn more about the campaign and access all campaign materials on the Fall for Smiles webpage at www.oralhealthamerica.org/fallforsmiles.
