Gov. Newsom Vetoes Medi-Cal Reimbursement for Silver Diamine Fluoride

The American Dental Education Association reports that California Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed legislation in October that would allow Medi-Cal to reimburse service providers for the application of silver diamine fluoride when used as a caries-arresting agent

The American Dental Education Association reports that California Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed legislation in October that would allow Medi-Cal to reimburse service providers for the application of silver diamine fluoride when used as a caries-arresting agent. Newsom vetoed the bill citing concerns over the cost of these reimbursements. Similar legislation was vetoed in 2018 by Gov. Jerry Brown because of due to concerns about costs.
