The fifth annual Global Dental Hygiene Research Conference scheduled for September 24-26, 2020 has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference will now be held September 23-25, 2021, at the Bethesdan Hotel in Bethesda, Maryland.

The conference theme is ”Overcoming Challenges in Conducting Research and Measuring Patient Outcomes.” Dental hygienists from around the world will share their original research, and workshops will focus on skill development in clinical research, community research and program development, overcoming the fear of statistics, using data to improve access to care, disseminating results, faculty development and mentoring, and finding evidence in a fake news world.

The conference is hosted by the National Center for Dental Hygiene Research & Practice in partnership with the American and Canadian Dental Hygienists’ Associations. Programs will be available for all levels—from the newcomer to the expert—as well as for those who wish to use best practices to enhance patient care. Some of the meeting’s goals include sharing new knowledge obtained through research investigations, exploring how to translate research to practice in a meaningful way, providing hands-on training in manuscript preparation, discussing how theoretical models can guide research, and disseminating research findings to support evidence-based practice. A total of 15 continuing education units can be earned by attending. For more information, please email Jane L. Forrest, RDH, EdD at: janeforrest@me.com.
