DR. JACK PIERMATTI NAMED ORAL IMPLANTOLOGY EXAMINER

VOORHEES, NJ, July 2, 2009 – Dr. Jack Piermatti, a prosthodontist and managing director of Dental Arts of South Jersey in Voorhees, has been named an examiner for the American Board of Oral Implantology (ABOI).
Dr. Piermatti, who is double Board-Certified as a diplomate of both the ABOI as well as the American Board of Prosthodontics, was one of the doctors selected to administer the oral section of the exam for Board Certification in Oral Implantology.  Doctors who have had training in oral implantology, successfully cleared the written examination, and have treated and documented a prescribed number of dental implant cases are eligible to take the exam.

Although not a specialty of dentistry, implantology is a huge discipline which interfaces with the specialties of Prosthodontics, Periodontics, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  Prosthodontics, focuses on dental implant, esthetic, and reconstructive dentistry.  Dr. Piermatti, who has placed more than 12,000 dental implants during his career, is also on the faculty of UMDNJ- New J  ersey Dental School.
Dental implants are an extremely popular alternative to dentures and bridges for replacing missing teeth.  A permanent solution, a dental implant actually bonds with the surrounding gum and bone.  The result is not only an improved smile, but enhanced self-esteem and improved nutrition with the restoration of full chewing capability.

Dental Arts of South Jersey offers a full range of general and specialty dental care at its 16,000 square-foot South Jersey Professional Center on Laurel Oak Road in Voorhees.  The three prosthodontists in the practice use fine-grain porcelains and precious alloys in crafting crown and bridge restorations by master laboratory technicians. The doctors also utilize the i-CAT 3-D imaging system, which delivers three-dimensional pictures of the face and jaw areas for precise mapping prior to a dental implant surgical procedure.
