Dental Hygienist Receives Webb Family Grant Award
Maria Augello, RDH, a recent graduate of the Shasta College Dental Hygiene Program in Redding, California, has received the California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation’s Webb Family Grant for 2023. This grant, established by Russell Webb, DDS, and his wife Kathi, supports individuals who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism and generosity in the dental community. The grant provides up to $5,000 for educational or program expenses. Growing up in a low-income household with limited access to dental care, Augello understands the importance of oral health for underserved populations. As a dental hygienist working in Redding and Red Bluff, both health professional shortage areas, she aims to provide compassionate care and education to improve oral and systemic health. The grant will alleviate the financial burden of Augello’s student loans, enabling her to pursue further education. She plans to earn a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and continue serving her local community and surrounding rural areas. The Foundation will accept applications for the 2024 Webb Family Grant from April 1 to April 30, with awardees notified in October 2024. Click here to read more.
