EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Define waterpipe, or hookah smoking.
  2. Identify factors contributing to the popularity of this practice.
  3. Discuss common misconceptions about hookah smoking.
  4. Identify systemic and oral health risks associated with this type of tobacco use.
  5. Explain the role of the dental hygienist in promoting health and raising awareness about these risks.
