A discussion of the characteristics, benefits, and limitations of fluoride-based therapies in the treatment of caries and dentinal hypersensitivity.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain risk factors for dental caries, as well as fluoride therapies used to prevent or treat caries and dentinal hypersensitivity.
  2. Discuss the efficacy of fluoride varnish and silver diamine fluoride in caries management.
  3. Describe the emerging role of ammonium hexafluorosilicate and nano silver fluoride for treating sensitivity, supporting remineralization, and preventing or arresting caries lesions.
