Stephen K. Harrel, DDS, is an adjunct professor in the Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry. A diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, he is also a member of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene’s Editorial Advisory Board. Harrel can be reached at: skharrel@gmail.com.


Michael P. Rethman, DDS, MS, is a periodontist and biomedical scientist. An adjunct associate professor at the University of Maryland and adjunct assistant professor at The Ohio State University, he is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Rethman is the former chair of the American Dental Association Council on Scientific Affairs, a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology, and the former director of the United States Army Institute of Dental Research. He is also a member of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene’s Editorial Advisory Board.


Charles M. Cobb, DDS, MS, PhD, is a professor emeritus in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. A diplomate of the American Board of Perio - don tology, Cobb is retired after 15 years in private practice and 40 years as an academic.


Lee N. Sheldon, DMD, has provided comprehensive implant, periodontic, and full-mouth rehabilitation dental services for more than 30 years through his private practice in Melbourne, Florida.


John S. Sottosanti, DDS, has had a private practice limited to periodontics and implantology for more than 30 years in La Jolla, California. A former associate professor at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California, Sottosanti is a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
