Sol Silverman, Jr, MA, DDS, is professor of Oral Medicine, School of Dentistry, at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine, past-president of the Board, and past-president of the American Academy of Oral Medicine. He is the author of texts on oral cancer, oral manifestations of AIDS, and essentials of oral medicine. Silverman heads an active oral medicine clinic involved in patient care, research, and teaching.
