New Member Joins Dimensions’ Editorial Advisory Board
Tulsi Patel, RDH, MHA, FADHA, from UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, will share her expertise with the journal.

Dimensions of Dental Hygiene is pleased to announce a new addition to its Editorial Advisory Board: Tulsi Patel, RDH, MHA, FADHA. is director of health promotion and associate professor in the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry (UTSD). She is the founding director of the Center for Health Promotion, where she leads clinical and educational initiatives focused on prevention, health promotion, and integrated, value-based care within one of the nation’s first integrated dental medicine clinical models in a dental school. Since beginning her academic career in 2014, Patel has taught and directed courses in periodontology, ethics, informatics, and clinical preparedness for dental hygiene and predoctoral dental students, with a particular passion for periodontology education and educational innovation. Her research interests include periodontal therapy, preventive care, and educational innovation. She has published and presented nationally and internationally on periodontal education, clinical practice, and dental hygiene education.
Professor Patel is a Fellow of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and a recipient of the UTSD Lorna J. Bruning Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Texas Procter & Gamble Excellence in Teaching Award. She leads continuing education courses on periodontal classification and treatment planning for Educators Platform and has made significant contributions to clinician and educator calibration on the 2017 AAP/EFP periodontal classification system. Notable accomplishments include co-creating the Periodontitis and Gingivitis Module Utilizing the 2017 AAP and EFP Classification System for Periodontal Disease for Procter & Gamble DentalCare.com and co-authoring A Chairside Guide to the 2017 Periodontal Classification System, published in Dimensions of Dental Hygiene. She is an active member of the American Dental Education Association, American Dental Hygienists’ Association, and Sigma Phi Alpha.
