New York University College of Dentistry/Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program (The Program) is pleased to announce their continued partnership this spring with the New York State Department of Health, Poughkeepsie City School District, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center to bring dental care to Poughkeepsie’s schoolchildren
During the week of June 2-6, 2014, dental providers from NYUCD will be at the Governor Clinton Elementary School and the Early Learning Center from the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm offering all students in Poughkeepsie City School District Schools complete dental treatment with no required out-of-pocket cost to families. If you would like your child to participate or for more information, please call 845-437-3473 and ask to speak with a nurse practitioner.
The health of every child is a vehicle for their future success, and by extension the success of our communities, our state, and ultimately our nation as a whole,” said Assembly Member Frank Skartados, of the 104th Assembly District. “The dental services that NYU’s College of Dentistry are rendering to these underserved-youth are a benefit to us all. We are very grateful for the service the College of Dentistry is donating to us during this week.”
The Program provides oral health care education, emergency dental services, screenings, prevention, sealant application, and restorative treatment to underserved communities throughout the United States, Latin America, Central America, India, South Asia, and Africa. Participating dental team volunteers from The Program include NYUCD professors, dental students, dental residents, and dental hygienists, thereby enriching the professional experience of students and faculty.
The Program is the result of a partnership between NYUCD, Henry Schein, the largest distributor of health care products and services to office-based practitioners, and local partners in each targeted community. Henry Schein Cares, the Company’s corporate social responsibility program, provides all of the dental supplies used by the program’s missions for each of the programs taking place throughout the year.
Please note: This program is not intended to replace a child’s current dentist. If you have a family dentist, please continue care with your current provider.
The Program in Poughkeepsie is funded thanks to the generous support of the New State Health Foundation, and the Dyson Foundation.
