California Passes Law to Improve the Clarity of Dental Plan Coverage

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 952 into law, which requires dental insurers to clearly disclose whether a patient’s plan is state or federally regulated when dental providers are ascertaining a patient’s coverage. The legislation was supported by the California Dental Association after the organization received countess complaints from its members regarding the inability to understand what insurer they are interacting with until the billing process has been finished and submitted claims denied.
