
UK Study Finds Oral Health Professionals at Greater Risk for COVID-19
While data compiled from the American Dental Association and the American Dental Hygienists’ Association showed that oral health professionals in the United States were not at increased risk for SARS-CoV-2 infection, a new study from the United Kingdom found that UK oral health professionals did face an increased likelihood of infection with the novel coronavirus. The study of more than 1,000 dentists, dental nurses, and dental hygienists found that 16.3% had antibodies to the novel coronavirus, whereas a sample of the general population showed only 6% had antibodies. The research also looked at administrative staff who had no close patient contact in dental practices. This group had a similar antibody rate as the general population. Click here to read more.
