UT Health San Antonio Initiates Global Oral Health Agenda

The School of Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) has established the Center for Global and Community Oral Health, a new initiative aimed at addressing pressing dental challenges on a global scale. The center will focus on increasing access to oral healthcare to reduce health disparities, integrating oral healthcare into medical care to prevent systemic diseases, and disseminating oral health information to enhance health literacy. It aims to become a world leader in community oral health. The center’s programs will also extend to other countries, such as Kenya, where they provide dental screenings and oral health instruction to students, who, in turn, educate their families and peers. The center’s comprehensive approach will involve collaborations, research, and outreach efforts, making it a pivotal resource for improving oral health outcomes on a global scale.
