Chicago, IL (July 10, 2013) – Sunstar Americas, Inc., a proud member of the globally trusted

Sunstar Group of Companies that manufactures and markets innovative oral care products

under the GUM®, Butler® and Guidor® brands, officially announced they will be moving their North American headquarters from Northwest Chicago to Schaumburg. Other states had been courting Sunstar but the company decided to remain and grow in Illinois.

“We are pleased Sunstar has chosen Illinois to continue to expand its business,” said Governor Pat Quinn. “Our state’s highly skilled workforce, world-class transportation system and access to higher education make Illinois one of the best places in the world to do business.”

The new world-class corporate campus will be home to approximately 400 Sunstar employees at opening and the company expects its business and headcount to grow substantially in the coming years. It will also feature many state-of-the-art enhancements to provide a superior working environment focused on employee wellness, including a fitness center and walking trails.

Sunstar has been working with Schaumburg for the past several months to coordinate the various zoning, tax and other relevant issues that will impact the new facility.

On June 28, 2013, Sunstar officially purchased land previously owned by the Archdiocese of Chicago. The new facility will occupy approximately 300,000 square feet and more than 40 acres of land along the I-90 corridor. The annexation agreement between Sunstar and Schaumburg is expected to be reached in mid-August.

Accompanying the corporate offices will be a manufacturing facility and research & design center that will enable the company to not only expand their oral health product offerings but also enter additional market segments. Sunstar anticipates increasing their workforce to support the company’s expansion.

“This investment in our new North American headquarters will be vital to our evolution as a global company and enable us to provide our customers with an array of products to enhance their lives, said Mr. Yoshihiro Kaneda, Sunstar Chairman. Sunstar has a long history in Illinois and we are pleased to renew our commitment to innovation by investing in this new facility in the Village of Schaumburg.”

The company will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on July 25, 2013. The opening of the new facility is currently scheduled between November 2014 and February 2015.
