Paperwork Blunder Keeps Some Navy Dentists Serving Longer Than Anticipated

Due to an error in how years served were calculated, many United States Navy dentists and physicians who thought they were nearing the 20 years needed to retire are finding that they owe 3 more years. It seems that the clinicians’ creditable years of service were assessed incorrectly, leaving 65 dentists and doctors with additional service requirements. After 20 years of service, military healthcare professionals receive a pension and medical benefits.
