One of the Largest Lab Networks in the US Begins Monkeypox Testing

Labcorp, with its 36 laboratories spread across the United States, will begin using the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s orthopoxvirus test to widen the availability of monkeypox testing. The company projects it can process up to 10,000 tests each week. The orthopoxvirus test is designed to find all non-smallpox-related orthopoxviruses of which monkeypox is one. This will double the nation’s testing capability, which is only expected to grow as more lab companies begin implementing the test. More than 560 cases of monkeypox have been diagnosed in the US.
