New ADA Forsyth Certification Program to Evaluate Professional Dental Products
The American Dental Association (ADA) Forsyth Professional Dental Products Certified Program (AFI Certified) will focus on professional dental products, aiming to empower dentists with evidence-based data to support high-quality patient care. This program is distinct from the ADA’s Seal of Acceptance by focusing on professional products only.
The American Dental Association (ADA), in partnership with the ADA Forsyth Institute, has launched the ADA Forsyth Professional Dental Products Certified Program, or AFI Certified, set to officially begin in fall 2025. Designed as a “gold standard” for professional dental products, this program aims to support dentists in making informed choices by providing evidence-backed data on products that meet ADA-endorsed standards.
Unlike the ADA Seal of Acceptance, which targets consumer products, AFI Certified focuses on products used directly by dental professionals, requiring them to undergo strict scientific evaluations. The ADA Forsyth Institute oversees the product testing with the goal of providing transparent and objective data that dentists can trust.
The introduction of AFI Certified reflects the need for thorough vetting of dental innovations in an era of rapid technological advancement.
