  • touched the lives of over 1 million children
  • awarded $5 Million in grants and products to our community-based Affiliate partners
  • developed programs targeted to help expectant mothers, infants, children and teens
  • provided engaging science-based educational materials for children and care givers
  • worked to raise awareness of the #1 chronic childhood illness: pediatric dental disease

PROGRAMS

“Tomorrow’s SMILES©” PROGRAM IS GROWING

Supported by the Alpha Omega International Fraternity, NCOHF’s Tomorrow’s SMILES program is providing aesthetic and restorative services to at-risk teens, giving them attractive and healthy smiles. The program also educates teens about the importance of good oral health, offering guidance on maintaining their Tomorrow’s SMILE. NCOHF Affiliates and volunteer private practitioners provide treatment. For more information, contact us at smiles@ncohf.org.

NCOHF CREATES NEW PROGRAM TO PROVIDE DENTAL HOMES

NCOHF announces the creation of its “America’s Toothfairy Dental Home” program, which recognizes private practice dentists who volunteer to provide a dental home to a local child in need of care. For more information, contact us at info@ncohf.org.

GRANTS TO AFFILIATES

Trident® gum Toothfairy Grants: to support oral health preventive treatments, education, screenings and referral for dental care and oral health needs for underserved children and to educate primary health care providers and student clinicians on infant oral health care.

$25,000 to Howard University (Washington, DC)
$25,000 to University of Illinois at Chicago (Chicago, IL)
$25,000 to University of California, San Francisco (San Francisco, CA)

Heraeus Toothfairy Grant: $15,000 to University of California, (San Francisco, CA) to help provide preventive oral health education, dental screening, fluoride application and timely referral for early dental intervention.

America’s Toothfairy® Grant: $15,000 to Centro de Salud Oral Materno Infantil – University of Puerto Rico, (San Juan, PR) to develop a referral system for physicians and other professionals to recognize moderate and high caries risk in infants and to provide education and dental care to pregnant women and their families.

America’s Toothfairy® Grant: $15,000 to Dorchester House, (Dorchester, MA) to provide increased access to preventive dental care for children and pregnant women. MicroDental Toothfairy Run Grant: $13,559 to Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, (Garden Grove, CA) to bring comprehensive preventative mobile oral health services to children living in shelters to include screenings, oral health education for families as well as sealant and fluoride varnish applications.

Johnson & Johnson Toothfairy Grant: to KinderSmile Foundation, Inc., (Upper Montclair, NJ) to conduct prenatal/postnatal workshops for pregnant and new mothers in low-income areas, educating them on the importance of oral disease prevention in their unborn and infant children.

Johnson & Johnson Toothfairy Grant: to Valley Community Clinic, (North Hollywood, CA) to support the Piggy-Back program, introducing dental health in the pediatric center and providing oral health care treatment and education early in the child’s medical routine.

Toothfairy Run Grant: $7,500 to Central Community College, (Hastings, NE) to provide screenings, toothbrushing prophies, fluoride varnish treatments and dental sealants in local Head Start programs and WIC programs.

Discus Dental Toothfairy Grants: $7,000 to Just Kids Dental Health, (Two Harbors, MN), $5,000 to The Children’s Dental Center, (Inglewood, CA) to support critical community outreach services, including age-appropriate oral health education, dental screenings and preventive fluoride treatment for children.

Toothfairy Run Grant: $4,800 to FirstHealth of the Carolinas, (Pinehurst, NC) to educate the parents of newborns on preventive oral care and facilitate a dental home for local at-risk children.

America’s Toothfairy® Product Grants: To hygiene programs at:

$14,500 to Wilkes Public

Health Dental Clinic, (North Wilkesboro, NC) to support the mobile dental clinic operating at county middle schools and Head Start, including treatment, preventive measures and oral health education for the families.

$14,500 to Children’s Dental Health Services, (Rochester, MN) to provide nutritional and oral health education, supplies, information and dental assessment and treatment for uninsured children in SE Minnesota.

$10,000 to Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, (Parkersburg, WV) to screen and provide preventive measures to second and fifth graders who do not have a dental home or who have not seen a dentist in a year or more.

NCOHF AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS ANNOUNCE A NEW PARTNERSHIP

NCOHF and Special Olympics, Inc. (SOI), have signed a partnership agreement to benefit Special Olympics athletes and children with intellectual disabilities. This partnership has been designed to expand and enhance access to oral health preventive, educational and restorative services for children with intellectual disabilities. Comprehensive services will be provided through NCOHF’s rapidly growing national Affiliate network of community based children’s oral health facilities. Read more.
