Mastering Periodontal Disease Management at Dimensions’ Discovery EXPO 2026
Join leading periodontist Brett Weatherington, DDS, for an evidence-driven deep dive into modern periodontal classification and treatment strategies that translate directly into sharper diagnostics and stronger patient outcomes.
Periodontal disease management is evolving rapidly and staying current requires more than familiarity with the basics. At Dimensions’ Discovery EXPO 2026, Brett Weatherington, DDS, will lead a high-impact, clinically focused session “Diagnosis, Classification, and Treatment of Periodontal Diseases,” designed to help dental hygienists translate the latest science into everyday practice.
Scheduled for Saturday, August 8, from 8:00 to 10:00 am, this course unpacks the World Workshop classification system with practical clarity, guiding attendees through the staging and grading of periodontal and peri-implant diseases. Rather than treating classification as an academic exercise, Weatherington connects it directly to diagnostic decision-making and individualized treatment planning.
Participants will explore current epidemiological trends alongside the microbial and immunological mechanisms that drive periodontal breakdown. From there, the course expands into a full spectrum of treatment modalities, ranging from foundational nonsurgical therapies such as scaling and root planing to emerging technologies including photobiomodulation, air polishing systems, and guided biofilm therapy.
Weatherington, a board-certified periodontist and assistant professor in periodontics at the Postgraduate Dental College, Uniformed Services University, brings both academic rigor and real-world clinical perspective. His leadership roles within military and academic institutions, along with his work in implant dentistry and biomaterials innovation, ensure a course grounded in both evidence and application.
Presented within the broader Dimensions’ Discovery EXPO experience, an all-inclusive CE event offering up to 12 hours of continuing education, this session reflects the meeting’s mission: delivering forward-thinking, clinically relevant education that empowers dental hygienists to elevate care, sharpen diagnostic precision, and strengthen patient outcomes across the continuum of periodontal health.
