Less Than Half of Private Dental Practices Offer Health Insurance Benefits

Many dental practices are struggling to fill vacant positions, particularly dental hygienists. Research from the American Dental Association (ADA) and American Dental Hygienists’ Association shows that during the pandemic, 8% of dental hygienists voluntarily left the workplace. The ADA Health Policy Institute recently published new data that reveal why, in part, dentists are experiencing difficulty in attracting new team members—53% of private practices do not provide health insurance to their employees. The poll included 1,200 participants. Of those dental practices that do not offer any health insurance benefits, 83% cited high cost as the reason. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, average cost for health insurance in the United States is $7,739 for individuals and $22,221 for families. Click here to read more.
