If you’re looking to practice greener but do not want the negatives of retipping your instruments, Hu-Friedy Mfg Co Inc, Chicago, is now offering Environdent, an environmentally responsible alternative to retipping.
Retipping may create unbalanced instruments that are susceptible to corrosion and premature failure. Plus, the tip is the most valuable part of the hand instrument. Hu-Friedy encourages dental hygienists to limit their environmental impact without experiencing the downsides of retipping by signing up for its Environdent recycling program.
Dental hygienists who purchase 12 Hu-Friedy instruments and then recycle 12 instruments of any brand will receive a free Hu-Friedy scaler/curette or diagnostic instrument, plus a free Environdent magnet. Once you’ve collected three Environdent magnets, you will receive an additional free instrument.
