Hong Kong Researchers Use AI to Create Dental Crowns

Researchers at the University of Hong Kong have developed a manufacturing process that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to fabricate dental crowns. Computer-aided design and manufacturing is typically used in the creation of dental prostheses, but these researchers suggest that AI provides added benefits, including a reduction in time and cost as well as an increase in accuracy. The team created an AI algorithm that implements a three-dimensional approach to produce dental crowns personalized to the patient’s existing dentition. The study “Morphology and Mechanical Performance of Dental Crown Designed by 3D-DCGAN” was published in Dental Materials. Click here to read more.
