(Charlotte, NC—January 16, 2009) Through a generous gift from Dr. Mitch Conditt, the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF) has awarded a $10,000 Toothfairy Grant to Valley Community Clinic to expand access of quality preventive oral health services for underserved children. Pediatric dental disease remains the #1 chronic childhood illness (Surgeon General’s Report). Millions of children suffer pain so severe, it affects their ability to eat, sleep and learn. Yet, pediatric dental disease is preventable.

Fern Ingber, NCOHF’s president and CEO, expressed her appreciation. “We are very grateful to Dr. Conditt and his wife Mary, for their exemplary ongoing leadership support for our child saving cause. This Toothfairy Grant will deliver very valuable preventive care to some of our nation’s most vulnerable children, and ensures access to quality oral health services that provide the building blocks for healthy smiles and promising futures.”

NCOHF awarded the Dr. Mitch Conditt Toothfairy Grant to Valley Community Clinic (VCC) for implementation of an aggressive infant oral health program that helps to ensure a cavity-free childhood for underprivileged children. VCC’s director of dental services, Dr. Rachel Goldberg pointed out, “Children who do not receive fluoride varnish are more than twice as likely to develop tooth decay as children who do receive regular varnish.” Dr. Goldberg implements an aggressive infant oral health program that is ‘piggy-backed’ onto regular pediatric well-child visits at the clinic in North Hollywood, California. VCC is a member of the NCOHF national affiliate network, dedicated to delivering comprehensive oral health treatment and preventive educational services to thousands of economically disadvantaged children and their families.

Mitch A. Conditt, DDS, serves patients in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano, Texas. Dr. Conditt is a recognized international lecturer and has inspired and motivated thousands of dentists in the art of aesthetic dentistry. Despite his busy schedule, Dr. Conditt continues to make a difference in his patients’ smiles in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, where he maintains a full-time private practice. “Every child’s life is precious and a healthy smile improves their chances for a healthier life. I am pleased to help underserved children attain greater well-being through oral health care,” Conditt said.
