Dimensions’ Discovery EXPO Offered Learning and Fun This Past Weekend
Hundreds of dental hygienists descended upon Anaheim, California, on August 7 and 8 to learn from a wide range of speakers, sample the latest and greatest in dental hygiene products, and enjoy time with colleagues and friends.
The Dimensions’ Discovery EXPO went off without a hitch as dental hygienists from around the country enjoyed engaging speakers, a packed exhibit hall, and lots of opportunities for fun and networking. The meeting kicked off with an engaging course on soft tissue deformities given by the dynamic Maine periodontist Adam Saltz, DMD, MS, MPH.
Attendees spent time in the exhibit hall and were able to choose from a variety of Lunch & Learn courses on topics ranging from infection control to instrumentation to establishing healthy habits. Two Legislative Update Forums were held with speakers discussing the status of the profession and what dental hygienists can do to prevent any encroachment on their practice acts.
Some attended the RDHAP Panel Discussion to take a deep dive on all that is Advanced Practice. An RDHAP herself, Jennifer Nowotney, also known as the “Friendly Flosser,” shares, “I had such a fun time at the Dimensions’ Discovery Expo catching up with some of my longtime hygiene friends, meeting new ones, and getting my hands on some of the latest products and techniques in dental hygiene. I’m always looking for those little pearls that can make a BIG difference for my patients. After all these years, I’m still learning, still asking questions, and still excited when I discover something new!”
Friday evening culminated with The Esther Wilkins Lifetime Achievement Award reception, which honored Cindy Gadbury-Amyot, RDH, MS, EdD, FADHA, for her dedication to education, mentorship, and research. Guests enjoyed inspiring speeches from Dr. Gadbury-Amyot and Heather McGuire, RDH, of Philips, the premier sponsor of the event, while they sipped cocktails and mocktails and nibbled on passed hors d’oeuvres.
The exhibit hall was filled with booths enabling attendees to try out a wide variety of products. A fashion show and product presentations were also part of the exhibit hall. Attendee Peggy Lelesi, RDH, MS, FADHA, sums it up perfectly, “Amazing speakers, vendors, and friends all around!”
