EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Define sugar-sweetened beverages.
  2. Discuss how the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages harms the dentition.
  3. Identify the systemic health concerns associated with consuming sugary drinks.
  4. Describe the role of the dental hygienist in reducing the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages.
