EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify the significance of untreated dental caries and its impact on various populations, especially those with limited access to dental care due to socioeconomic factors.
  2. Discuss the mechanism of action of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) in arresting dental caries, including its antimicrobial properties and remineralization effects.
  3. List the research demonstrating the efficacy of SDF and note contraindications to its use.
