Boston University Dental Health Center Celebrates Grand Opening

(Boston) – The Boston University Dental Health Center celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 9th. President Robert Brown, Executive Vice President Joseph Mercurio, and Goldman School of Dental Medicine Dean Jeffrey Hutter presided.

Prior to cutting the ribbon, President Brown congratulated Dean Hutter and Dental Health Center Director Dr. Margaret Errante on the impressive transformation of the Center. “The positive impact that the new facility, technologies, and practitioners will have on patient care is commendable.

Providing excellent oral health care has always been central to your mission and this new facility is an important way to ensure that you continue to do so in the future.”

The Dental Health Center has been operating since 1991 and was last updated in 2000. Since opening, the Center has employed a philosophy of care that combines knowledge with experience and uses the latest technologies to deliver comprehensive dental care with the highest standards of excellence.

The new location is at the same 930 Commonwealth Avenue location with an expanded treatment facility that includes state of the art patient treatment rooms each equipped with digital radiography and intraoral photography and a full oral surgery suite. The Dental Health Center is a multi-specialty practice, employing dental professionals who are trained in orthodontics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry, implantology, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry.

The Center offers reasonable rates, often only 70% of what is regular and customary in the Boston area. The Center also offers additional discounts to Boston University and Boston Medical Center employees. The new facility will allow for a 54% increase in patient visit capacity annually. In order to accommodate this increased patient capacity, the Center has doubled the number of practitioners on staff.

At the ceremony Dean Hutter congratulated Dr. Errante and the entire Dental Health Center staff and thanked President Brown and Mr. Mercurio for their support. “President Brown and Executive Vice President Joseph Mercurio were instrumental to the success of this project and I thank them both for their leadership and support.”

The new Center was Boston University financed with a $3.5 M capital investment that Goldman School of Dental Medicine will repay over time.

“The benefit to Boston University employees and students is very significant and Boston University is proud to finance such a worthy initiative,” said Vice President Mercurio.
