Emily Carico, is a senior dental hygiene student at the Virginia Commonwealth University Dental Hygiene Program in Richmond. She serves on the Advocacy Committee for the Student Chapter of the Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association. Carico was inspired to pursue a career in dental hygiene after advocating for a loved one who experienced complications following a dental procedure, an experience that shaped her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. Her professional interests include building trust with patients, particularly those experiencing dental anxiety, advocating for patient-centered care, and promoting equitable access to oral health through community outreach.
