Courtney D. Routh, RDH, MSDH

Courtney D. Routh, RDH, MSDH, joined the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry in 2023 as an assistant professor in the Dental Hygiene Program within the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene, where she serves as a clinic facilitator and course director. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Health Science at George Washington University in Washington, DC. With nearly 20 years of clinical experience in periodontal specialty and general practice, Routh brings a strong evidence-based and student-centered approach to teaching across didactic, lab, and clinical settings, directing courses in periodontology, radiology, and clinical seminar. She is actively involved in curriculum development, faculty calibration, and innovative educational design, with scholarly interests in periodontology, implant maintenance, emotional intelligence, and the integration of artificial intelligence in dental education. She has presented nationally and internationally, contributed to research and publications, and is engaged in institutional and professional leadership through service on key committees and organizations. Recognized with the Lorna J. Bruning Award for Outstanding Teaching, Routh is also committed to community outreach and expanding access to oral healthcare.
