Carlene Paarmann, RDH, MEd, is a professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Idaho State University (ISU) in Pocatello, where she joined the full-time faculty in 1976. She teaches local anesthesia and expanded functions to junior and senior dental hygiene students and also serves as coordinator of the expanded functions curriculum. Throughout her years at ISU, Paarman has received honors and awards for excellence in teaching, including the university's highest honor—the Distinguished Teacher Award—and the Most Influential Professor in the College of Health Professions, which she received twice.
