Alice M. Horowitz, RDH, MA, PhD, is a research associate professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health, School of Public Health at the University of Maryland in College Park. Formerly a senior scientist at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Health, National Institutes of Health, her research focus has been on dental caries prevention and early detection and oral cancer prevention. Horowitz was instrumental in initiating the need to address health literacy in dentistry. She was named one of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene’s “Six Dental Hygienists You Want to Know” for research in December 2018, and has published numerous research findings.
