Australian Study Demonstrates Safety of Community Water Fluoridation
A new study out of the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, shows that consuming fluoridated water had no effect on the brain development of children. Published in the Journal of Dental Research, the study included more than 2,800 Australian children. The researchers used a sample of children ages 5 to 10 from Australia’s National Child Oral Health Study 2012–14. They followed up with the children 7 to 8 years later to compare school-age executive functioning and emotional and behavioral development between children who had exposure to water fluoridation and those who had not. The study found no differences in these developmental markers between the groups. Click here to read more.
