American Diabetes Association Initiates Oral Health Campaign

Dental care is critical to patients with diabetes, and research has revealed a bidirectional link between diabetes and periodontal diseases, with poor management of blood sugar leading to increased risk of periodontitis and poor oral health increasing the difficulty of managing blood sugar levels among those with this common metabolic disorder. As such, the American Diabetes Association has partnered with Pacific Dental Services to educate its members on the importance of maintaining their oral health. The organization will be posting educational information on its website and through its social media channels to help individuals with diabetes prevent periodontal diseases and improve their oral health.
