After-Hours Dental Clinic Opens at the University of Mississippi
The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry is pioneering a new after-hours clinic, aiming to integrate it as a permanent fixture within its operations. Running monthly, the clinic operates from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, catering to patients unable to seek dental care during typical business hours. For $85, patients receive a comprehensive oral examination, radiographs, and therapies including prophylaxes, restorative care, and endodontic treatment. Initiated through the Change 4 Good Transformation Challenge, where students and staff proposed innovations to enhance patient and care team experiences, the after-hours clinic emerged as the winning idea. Selected from three finalists, the winning team advocated extending clinic hours to 8:00 pm to accommodate patients with daytime constraints. The winning team received a $3,000 prize donated by alumna and pediatric dentist Katie Curtis, DMD. Subsequent clinics are scheduled for April 25, May 30, June 27, and July 25.
