ACP Announces Appointment of Journal of Prosthodontics

Associate Editor-in-Chief—Dr. Radi Masri

Chicago, Ill.—The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) Board of Directors is very pleased to announce that Radi Masri, B.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., F.A.C.P., has been appointed the new Associate- Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Prosthodontics (JOP) effective July 1, 2014. Dr. Masri is a Tenured Associate Professor, Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore and maintains a clinical practice in Prosthodontics. Dr. Masri is currently Chair of the ACP’s Research Committee.

“As a recognized leader in the prosthodontic research community, Dr. Masri brings a breadth of knowledge, experience and reputation that will enhance the JOP and will help us to guide the Journal to new heights,” notes ACP President Dr. John R. Agar.

“Dr. Masri’s qualifications, the broad range of his research interests, and his vision for the Journal made him the best person for the position, and the editorial team eagerly welcomes him aboard,” said JOP Editor-in-Chief Dr. David A. Felton, Dean, West Virginia University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Masri served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry (JPD) since 2006 and as Assistant Editor of the JPD since 2009. During this period, the JPD went through a transformation aimed at curtailing plagiarism, transitioning into a web-based management system, and increasing the journal’s Impact Factor.

The ACP began a national search for the new position of JOP Associate Editor-in-Chief in the summer 2013, which was led by a Search Committee composed of ACP Board members and Chaired by Dr. Susan E. Brackett, Board Secretary. “Our candidate identification and screening process was rigorous and thorough, and we are delighted that Dr. Masri has agreed to serve in this important ACP role,” reported Dr. Brackett.

The Journal of Prosthodontics ranks as the ACP’s most highly valued service by ACP members and continues to grow in value and prestige in the professional community.
