A Funeral for a Tooth Raises Funds for a Good Cause
In a spirited farewell, a 101-year-old woman celebrated the life of her last remaining tooth, “Chewy” with a memorial service that doubled as a fundraiser for a dental clinic. Attendees honored the tooth’s 95-year life while raising more than $100 for those in need of dental care.
In Pearl, Mississippi, 101-year-old Doreene McCoy turned the memorial for her last remaining tooth into a humorous and charitable event. Known for her fun-loving spirit, McCoy orchestrated the June service for her 95-year-old tooth “Chewy” raising more than $100 for the Mission First Dental Clinic, which provides free dental care to low-income patients. The event included a tooth-shaped coffin and brought together over 30 family and friends. Tragically, McCoy passed away 4 days after the memorial, leaving behind a legacy of generosity and humor.
