New Dental Hygiene – DDS Pathway at the Ostrow School of Dentistry
USC’s highly regarded Bachelor of Dental Hygiene degree and world-renowned Doctor of Dental Surgery program make an unparalleled combination.

A unique academic pathway at the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC now provides high-achieving students with an uninterrupted, comprehensive dental hygiene and dental surgery education.

The Dental Hygiene – DDS Pathway gives a small number of USC Dental Hygiene graduates admittance to the Doctor of Dental Surgery program immediately upon their completion the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree. Students must apply to the pathway when they apply to the Dental Hygiene program, and students are only admitted to the DDS portion of the pathway if they graduate with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and receive faculty recommendations from their time in the Dental Hygiene program. With two years spent in the Dental Hygiene program and four years in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program, the total length of the pathway is six years.

“The pathway is a wonderful opportunity for motivated, driven students who know they want the highest quality professional dental education,” said Diane Melrose, chair of the Dental Hygiene program. “Our baccalaureate program in Dental Hygiene not only gives students a state of-the-art education in dental hygiene, but it also gives interested graduates the challenging, comprehensive preparation necessary for becoming a world-class USC dentist.”

Prospective students can find more info on the Dental Hygiene – DDS Pathway here or by calling the Ostrow School of Dentistry Office of Admissions at (213) 740-2841.

The Dental Hygiene program will also host an Open House on Tuesday, November 8 for anyone looking to learn more about the program, the dental hygiene profession, and the Ostrow School of Dentistry. Click here for more info.
