ORAL HEALTH AMERICA RECOGNIZED FOR ITS WORK WITH SMILES ACROSS AMERICA® PARTNERS
Oral Health America (OHA) was recently recognized by the West Virginia University (WVU) Foundation and New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD) for its donations for the Smiles Across America® (SAA) programs established through each university.
The Woodburn Circle Society at the WVU Foundation recognized OHA for donating $115,000 since 2006 to the SAA-West Virginia program, which now includes 28 partners throughout the state.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to Oral Health America for its generous support of the Smiles Across America® program. Such gifts help enable the University to fulfill its mission of public service and improve the general health and well-being of the public. We also congratulate Oral Health America on its recent induction into the Woodburn Circle Society, the Foundation’s highest level of donor recognition,” said Wayne King, CFRE, President and CEO of the WVU Foundation.
The NYU College of Dentistry recognized OHA for awarding grants of more than $100,000 to the College’s Department of Pediatric Dentistry, which oversees the SAA program in New York City schools.
“The NYU College of Dentistry is very pleased to recognize Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America® program for generous grants for improved pediatric dentistry outreach care. In addition to financial assistance, Smiles Across America® also provides organizational support and donated dental products for in-school oral health services, community outreach among dental and nursing students, and pediatric dentistry follow-up visits at the NYU College of Dentistry,” said Dr. Charles Bertolami, Dean of the NYU College of Dentistry. “We are extremely grateful to Oral Health America and Smiles Across America®, and look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership.”
Oral Health America’s mission is to change lives by connecting communities with resources to increase access to oral health care, education and advocacy for all Americans, especially those most vulnerable. OHA’s Smiles Across America® (SAA) program supports oral disease prevention services in school-based or school-linked settings for children who are uninsured and underserved due to issues of poverty – lack of resources, transportation barriers, low literacy, and language diversity.
