October is National Dental Hygiene Month
October is National Dental Hygiene Month (NDHM) and will be marked this year by Hygienists’ Appreciation Day during the first week of the month, followed by 2 weeks of community service, then finish with “Take a Potential Member to Lunch Day” the final week. These events are part of the revamped NDHM month-long celebration begun in 2008.
Last year’s family-focused theme “A Healthy Smile Lasts a Lifetime,” will be carried over to this year’s observations, and reflected on posters and computer desktop wallpapers available at http://adha.org/ndhm/index.html. The ADHA is also making available fact sheets and information relating to each age group of the entire family. The organization offers PR templates on the members page of its website to help promote any event a component or constituent is planning in honor of NDHM.
ADHA is encouraging dental hygienists and other dental professionals and supporters across the country to get involved with NDHM this October to increase public awareness of the oral health-total health connection and the importance of educating the entire family about situations that impact oral health.
