The Dental Hygiene Program at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, University of Southern California in Los Angeles, recently underwent several changes to better serve a new generation of students.
Beginning in fall 2019, class size was reduced to 20 students to provide more personalized education and one-on-one time between faculty and students.
The new model also integrates dental hygiene students and dental students as they take courses, and work in the clinic together. Collaboration across various specialties, including pharmacists, physician assistants and occupational therapists, will also occur when dental hygiene students meet with patients.
