Since its inception in 1962, WATERPIK has been creating water flossers that produce clinically proven results and are easy and comfortable to use. The newest WATERPIK product is its sleekest, most innovative water flosser to date, the PROMAX™ water flosser with SMARTADVANCE™ mode. More impressive still are the product’s clinical results, which take at-home oral care to the next level.
Over the years, numerous studies have shown that the WATERPIK brand of water flossers is a highly effective tool for helping patients reduce bleeding. The clinical data on the PROMAX model are consistent with this. In a 6-week study conducted at All Sum Research Center, manual toothbrushing plus the PROMAX water flosser with the Precision Jet Tip at two different intensity settings, 3 and 9, were compared to manual brushing alone. The results demonstrated when used at setting 9, the PROMAX water flosser users not only significantly resolved bleeding, but they also restored gingival health.
The study, in addition to evaluating patient outcomes via the plaque, gingivitis, and bleeding indices, calculated the number of subjects who were able to reduce bleeding points to less than 10%. The results showed that the majority (80%) of study participants who used PROMAX at setting 9 reduced their number of bleeding sites to less than 10%. No participants in the setting 3 group or manual brushing only group were able to achieve this outcome.
What Defines Oral Health?
Results from the 2017 World Workshop on Periodontics determined that reaching pristine oral health with zero bleeding is not attainable for most people. A more realistic goal is to achieve clinical health, with tissue showing very low levels of bleeding and inflammation.1 The workshop defined gingival health, whether on an intact periodontium or a reduced but stable periodontium, as having < 10% bleeding sites.1 This is important as absence of bleeding is a reliable indicator of periodontal stability.2
The key to significantly resolving bleeding and achieving gingival health in 6 weeks is getting patients to setting 9. Rather than relying on patients to remember to increase the setting, WATERPIK PROMAX comes with SMARTADVANCE mode. When patients activate this setting, PROMAX starts at setting 3 and comfortably takes them to the optimal deep cleaning setting of 9 within 2 weeks.
The Stakes Are High
With around 90% of the population having gingivitis and 40% experiencing periodontitis, most patients experience regular gingival bleeding.3 The WATERPIK PROMAX water flosser with SMARTADVANCE mode will provide your patients with an easy, effective, and comfortable way to resolve bleeding and restore gingival health.
