Ann Battrell, MSDH, CEO of the American Dental Hyg

Ann Battrell, MSDH, CEO of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA), passed away on June 7 after a long illness. She was a tireless advocate for the profession of dental hygiene and her advocacy will have a long-lasting impact on dental hygienists. A former ADHA president, Battrell became the first dental hygienist to lead the organization as executive director in 2009 and as CEO beginning in 2016. She will be greatly missed.

Now, Delaware is very close to being the only one, as the Texas state legislature passed a bill, HB 3824, enabling dental hygienists to administer local infiltration anesthesia under the direct supervision of a dentist in patients over 18.
