Crest and Oral-B Help Advance Healthy Oral Care Habits

Committed to advancing healthy oral hygiene habits, Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) oral care brands Crest and Oral-B are focused on improving access to dental care and oral health products and education to help ensure better healthcare outcomes for all Americans.

Committed to advancing healthy oral hygiene habits, Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) oral care brands Crest and Oral-B are focused on improving access to dental care and oral health products and education to help ensure better healthcare outcomes for all Americans.

“Crest and Oral-B are on a mission to unlock the life-changing power of healthy oral care habits, because everyone deserves a healthy smile,” notes Carlos De Jesus, MBA, MS, senior vice president, NA Oral Care, P&G. “For over 60 years, our brands have provided people with products that deliver better oral health results. We are committed to improving oral care for all, while educating people on how small changes to their oral care routine can make a big impact on overall health.”

The brands aspire to enable 100% of Americans to have access to oral care products, oral health education, and dental care. To help meet this goal, Crest and Oral-B are increasing efforts to provide free dental check-ups to children through partnerships with organizations such as the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Dental Hygiene Program in Ohio.

In the United States, some groups do not have ready access to affordable, quality oral healthcare. This could lead to untreated caries and oral pain. Children with poor oral health may miss more school and receive lower grades than their peers, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They may also experience difficulty eating, speaking, or paying attention in class.

To further oral health education, Crest and Oral-B have provided more than $140 million in continuing education to dental professionals over the past 10 years. The brands will continue to work with professionals to provide resources and tools that inspire a healthy daily oral hygiene routine, and promote understanding of the connection between oral and overall health. And children are also learning about the importance of good oral health through educational materials and activities that help to establish healthy oral hygiene habits.

These actions build on Crest and Oral-B’s 2020 efforts when the brands donated more than $2.5 million in products and care to support healthy smiles across the United States. They also donated more than 400,000 Oral-B toothbrushes and Crest toothpastes through partnerships with organizations such as America’s ToothFairy and Dental Lifeline Network, according to P&G

Aside from caring for Americans’ oral health, Crest and Oral-B also support a healthy planet. As the brands design solutions to enhance oral care, they also hope to inspire responsible consumption by using environmentally sustainable designs and packaging. One example is Oral-B’s Clic manual toothbrush with replaceable brush heads that uses 60% less plastic. Additionally, Crest is converting to recyclable toothpaste tubes by 2025, and both brands have an alternative recycling program to make it easy for consumers to give their used products new life.

These actions are rooted in the P&G global oral care platform “Healthy Smiles. Healthy Lives. Healthy Planet.” These efforts are designed to support the company’s goal to educate and enable 2 billion people to adopt healthy oral care habits by 2030.
